Technology transfer provides that RTI research results be made available to the marketplace for the greater public benefit. RTI uses many forums to facilitate technology transfer including intellectual property (IP) generation; published reports and presentations; newsletters, annual reports, and the Internet. In addition, conferences, seminars and workshops are organized and conducted across the country through existing and developing partnerships. Commercialization of IP opportunities is promoted consistent with the guidelines and objectives of the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980.
Through technology transfer, RTI is recognized beyond the Appalachian Region as a source of essential technical knowledge that enhances the development of new transportation products and systems.
As opportunities arise, RTI also partners with the Transportation Research Board (TRB), local FHWA and other state DOTs to sponsor national conferences and seminars on transportation and economic development.
